Refresh These Stories

The Dodo, Cosmopolitan, Entertainment, Vogue, Tastemade, Buzz Feed; what do all of these information filled wonders of social media have in common? They're all on Snapchat. Snapchat is a beautiful thing, pictures that only stay on your screen for however long you will allow, they can be private of posted for all to see. What could be better? Oh, they have "news" stories that are new every day? Well, not exactly.
Don't get me wrong, I love looking at The Dodo and Cosmo on Snapchat sometimes, but half of what's on those  every day has already been on there. Who likes watching re-runs of a show you only watch on occasion? At least three times a week I go to look at one or more of these subscriptions and they are the same thing every other day. When I'm bored, I don't watch old Wheel of Fortune episodes, and I wouldn't expect anyone else to either, so why would anyone want to read the same stories every other day?

    I know a lot of people look at these stories but I personally don't. Well the only times I do are when I accidentally swipe over and see a headline i'm interested in.

    I generally don't look at the Snapchat stories, because I feel it's pretty sub-par content in general. I use the app a ton on a daily basis to keep up with friends, but other than that I find it very hard to use it for anything. I wish there were more traditional news stories on there, or at least featured, because the app is so intuitive and easy to use it would be great for browsing through content, but sadly that isn't so. Also, your post gave me an idea for what to post about on my blog, so thank you for that!

Dreams are Weird...

Dreams are weird. I have never had what anyone would consider a "normal" dream. I'll give you one example of the strangest dream I think I have ever had. I once had a dream that I was going to a boarding school (that looked like Hogwarts). I was coming back from a class and there was a girl in the bathroom with all the showers running, and she was running around singing "it's raining , its pouring, the old man is snoring..." (we all know the song). Well, this teacher goes over, pulls this transparent screen over the door and screams "I'll make it rain!" she then pulls this rope that came out of nowhere and the water coming out of the showers turns to acid and the girl in the bathroom just melted. I run back to my room where two of my friends are and I tell them we have to get out. Hit a Rut

Here at ONU you have the opportunity to pursue anything you want. I chose to pursue advertising design. It is a great program and I love it. I love the classes, I love the professors, I love my fellow students, but I'm just not sure where the advertising comes into the advertising design program. Mostly there have been art classes and general education courses and that is to be expected, but I was hoping for a broader view of what I would be doing business wise in the advertising world. I've decided to pursue public relations to get this broader view, but I don't know if I should add it as a second major, or if I should just go for the minor? On 1 hand, the major would give me another degree entirely, on top of my advertising design degree. 2 degrees is a good thing right? Most people get by with the 1 and make a life in a career that is in their desired field (sometimes even that doesn't happen and they're left at a job they hate.) With 2 degrees (one being adve

Black Friday

Black Friday is a tradition we all know too well. The crazy people flying through the stores trying to find the best deals on whatever it is they are getting people for Christmas, the long lines, and the classic “ I got here first ” fights never seem to get old. I had to work Black Friday this year and it was kind of a disappointment. There were no fights, there were no crazy people, just the long lines which have to be the most boring part of the whole event. I opened the jewelry counter at Kohl ’ s in Findlay at 5 p.m. on Thursday. There was already a line outside the building when I got there at 4, and I was expecting a huge rush at the start of the night. I held my hopes too high. There was no mad rush, there were no fights, there weren ’ t even semi-angry people running around because they didn ’ t get the stuff they wanted.
